Engagement

So it has been just over a month since my best friend asked me to marry him.... by all means it wasn't the romantic knee drop we all see in movies and dream of as little girls, and there was definitely no crying or photos even! What it was was pure and true to his simple nature. Tuesday, 28 June 2016 - 2 days before our 5 year anniversary I had been asked out on a date, which was strange for 2 reasons. I had been asked out on a date It was a weekday night I had a feeling something was up and even as he got in the car that night when I picked him up I looked to his jean pockets to see if there was a box shaped thing. We drove to Hello Tomato in Bryanston - a place we had kind of looked at when we use to do the Bryanston parkrun. It was not the place I expected at all, it was more of a take-away restaurant than a sit down for a romantic meal and propose type restaurant. Yes, he sure does know how to pick ém. Well we had ordered and Dakota got up to take his glass...

Broccoli and Bacon Salad

So this past weekend I had my orienteering clubs annual AGM and awards lunch. As per tradition each family brings either a pudding or salad depending on their surname. As we had twice as many pudding people, my family opted to do 2 salads. For those who know me know I have a sweet tooth and avoid salads like a plague. My mom and I agreed she would do one salad and I would do another. Put thinking cap on AKA browse pinterest for inspiration, and voila created a salad actually so nutritious and yummy I would make it again just for myself, plus it is relatively easy to make which is a huge bonus. Ingredients: 2 Broccoli head 1 Packet diced bacon (lean is preferred) 1 Cup Chickpeas 1 Cup Almond Flakes 1 Avocado Method: Boil broccoli, ensuring it is cooked but not too soft and soggy Drain broccoli and put to the side to cool Cook diced bacon Add bacon to the broccoli Move broccoli and bacon into a large bowl Add chickpeas and almond flakes Cut avo into small cubes and a...

Eat right when it comes to fats. We need small amounts of fat in the diet, but most of us eat too much. And, some fats - like the one's naturally present in fish. tree nuts, olives and avo's - are healthier than others. Healthy fats add flavor, so add avo or nuts to your salad, or a dab of flavorful olive oil to steamed vegetables. Eat right before you grocery shop If you do your shopping on an empty stomach, you'll be like a kid in a Candy store - everything will look good to you.  Grab a Herbalife Protein Bar, a piece of fruit or a handful of nuts before you go out the door so you'll be less tempted. And make a list - and do your best to stick to it. For more information on eating right with Herbalife, please contact Zoe Brentano on 082 961 1253, or email chucky1zb@yahoo.com

Eat right when you get up. You don't need to eat immediately upon awakening but it's really important to eat in the morning. Those who eat breakfast regularly are better able to manage their weight, while breakfast skippers are likely to over compensate and eat too much at lunch.
